Our Purpose

Why We Exist

The Association of PAs in Psychiatry exists to support, connect, and elevate physician associates/assistants practicing in psychiatry and behavioral health. Our purpose is to promote excellence in psychiatric practice, encourage professional growth, and strengthen the role of PAs in meeting the mental health needs of patients and communities.

A Professional Home for Psychiatric PAs

We aim to provide a professional home for PAs working in psychiatry across diverse settings and patient populations. Through education, collaboration, advocacy, and shared resources, we seek to help PAs build knowledge, confidence, and connection within this important specialty.

Supporting the Growing Mental Health Workforce

As mental health needs continue to grow, PAs play an increasingly important role in expanding access to high-quality psychiatric care. The Association of PAs in Psychiatry is committed to supporting that work and advancing the contributions of PAs in this field.

How You Can Be Part of This Purpose

Every PA in psychiatry and behavioral health has a role to play in advancing patient care and strengthening this growing specialty. By engaging with APAP through membership, education, and collaboration, you help build a more connected community and expand access to high-quality mental health care for those who need it most.
